PRECONCEIVED IDEAS ABOUT LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Laser hair removal has become increasingly popular over the years. You’ve probably already heard of it, but you’re afraid to take the plunge for lack of knowledge on the subject?

Here’s a look at some of the common misconceptions about this technique.

1/ WILL I NEVER HAVE HAIR AGAIN AFTER A TREATMENT?

É

PILATION?

Laser hair removal is often described as permanent. It removes hair at its root, destroying the bulb and preventing it from growing back. Although the hair is definitively destroyed, it is rare to obtain a beardless result at the end of treatment: some hairs, too fine, may not be detected by the laser, while others may not be in the right growth phase to be destroyed. Finally, hormonal changes can cause regrowth to recur after a few years. It is estimated that by the end of treatment, an average of 80% of hair will have been destroyed.

2/ CAN ONLY WHITE SKINS BENEFIT FROM LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

Technological evolution has madelaser hair removal possibleon all skin types, thanks to the emergence of the Nd:YAG wavelength, adapted to dark and matte phototypes, which complements Alexandrite, the first laser technology designed exclusively for light skin.

Technological advances in Nd:YAG now make it possible to treat tanned skin with the Clarity II laser, under certain conditions which will be explained to you at your consultation.

3/ L’

LASER HAIR REMOVAL :

DANGEROUS FOR THE SKIN?

When performed under optimal conditions, laser hair removal is generally risk-free. However, certain rules must be observed in order to carry out the treatment safely and without risk of burns: no recent exposure to the sun, if this proves necessary depending on the wavelength used for your treatment, not being under photosensitizing treatment, not having applied essential oils to the treatment area, etc… If there is a burn, rest assured: the after-effects are generally transitory. A small crust forms on the surface of the skin, leaving a white trace after it has fallen off. In this case, a light exposure to the sun can help repigment the skin.

4/ I DON’T HAVE A LOT OF HAIR, SO I WON’T HAVE MANY SESSIONS?

Hair density is not a factor in reducing the number of sessions required. The number of hair cycles determines the duration and frequency of treatment. On average, 6 to 8 sessions are needed for body areas in women, 10 to 12 sessions for men, and 10 to 20 sessions for areas with short hair cycles or high hormone concentrations. (face, upper arms, etc.)

5/ CAN YOU BECOME STERILE AFTER LASER HAIR REMOVAL?

LASER HAIR REMOVAL

?

The laser light targets only the melanin in the hair, destroying the hair bulb. Its field of action does not extend beyond the dermis, so there is no impact on the organs. Laser hair removal as we know it today has been practiced since the 90s. With over 30 years’ experience, we can confirm that this technique is safe when performed under the right conditions.

6/ IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL PAINFUL?

The thermal impact of the laser beam can be painful, depending on individual sensitivity. This pain, felt like a rubber band popping with each impulse, can be reduced by applying an anaesthetic cream two hours before the session. As the laser hair removal treatment progresses, hair density and pain diminish.
