Facial electrolysis
Electric hair removal is one of the most effective techniques for all types of hair, even the finest. To get rid of unwanted fluff, Epilium & Skin offers this innovative hair removal method that treats all skin types, even dark skin.
What is electrolysis hair removal?
Electrolysis, better known as electrical hair removal, is a safe and effective aesthetic medicine method for saying goodbye to body hair. Its main advantage is its ability to remove hair that cannot be treated by laser. In fact, electric hair removal eradicates all hair, even those devoid of melanin. It can therefore act effectively on light-colored hair and in areas at risk of paradoxical regrowth, such as the face.
Electric hair removal targets the hair with an electrical impulse. To achieve this, it uses thermolysis (electrolysis). A very fine filament is introduced into the hair follicle. A high-frequency electrical wave is delivered to the hair root. The hair is completely damaged. All that’s left to do is remove it with tweezers.
Like laser treatment, electrolysis is only effective on hair in the growth phase (anagen phase). It therefore takes several sessions to remove hair from the same area.
Why use electric hair removal on the face?
Electrolysis requires a longer treatment protocol than laser hair removal. Electrolysis is particularly popular:
- On small areas
- As a finishing touch to laser hair removal
- On areas at risk of stimulation or paradoxical regrowth
- On white, blond or red hair (which cannot be treated by laser)
What areas are treated?
Electrolysis hair removal is an effective method for treating different areas of the face, guaranteeing permanent removal of unwanted hair.
Cheekbones
often prone to fine, scattered hairs, can be treated with precision to achieve smooth, even skin.
The chin
an area where hair can be thicker and more visible, also benefits from this technique, helping to eliminate stubborn hair and reduce the risk of regrowth.- Finally, the beard, which can include the jawline and neck, can be sculpted or completely waxed according to individual preference, offering a clean, well-groomed face.
Thanks to electrolysis, each area of the face can be treated in a targeted, permanent way, responding to the specific needs of each individual.
How does electric facial hair removal work?
Electric facial hair removal is performed hair by hair. It is always carried out by an experienced specialist. An electrolysis session lasts from 15 minutes to 1 hour, depending on hair density, the desired area, its complexity and the patient’s tolerance.
Course of an electrolysis hair removal session on the face at Epilium & Skin
An electrolysis hair removal session follows these steps:
- Beforehand, the treatment zone is defined.
- The skin is disinfected with an antiseptic solution.
- Safety electrode plates are placed on the patient’s lower back.
- The electrical impulses alter each hair, one by one.
- A soothing, healing cream is applied.
What precautions should be taken and what are the contraindications to electric hair removal on the face?
The only real precaution to be taken with an electrolysis session concerns the length of the hair. It must be long enough to insert the conductive filament. Your doctor will explain the procedure in detail at your first consultation.
Unlike laser hair removal, exposure to the sun is not a contraindication. Pregnant women, people with heart disease or diabetes, those undergoing radiotherapy or chemotherapy, those taking photosensitizing treatments or those wearing IUDs are not eligible for electric facial hair removal.
What are the results of electric facial hair removal?
Immediately after the session, it is possible to observe the formation of haematomas. These disappear within the first week. Mini-scabs at impact points disappear within two weeks. After electrolysis treatment, the targeted hairs are permanently eliminated. The skin is beardless.
