FINITIVE LASER HAIR REMOVAL

The most effective technique to date, laser hair removal requires specific training given only to professionals. The principle consists in destroying the hair root using a light beam (laser). Only dark hair (chestnut to brown) is a real target for the laser. The technique therefore has its limits for white and blond hairs, which are devoid of melanin. It should also be noted that certain areas with down, such as the face and upper arms, cannot be treated. In fact, the heat of the laser beam can stimulate hair growth. Regarding contraindications, laser hair removal is not possible on tanned skin, with the exception of the latest-generation Clarity II laser (even artificially: UVs, self-tanning, etc.). Certain drugs are not compatible, such as photosensitizers or anticoagulants.

Between 6 and 10 sessions are required, depending on the area, to cover each hair cycle. At the end of treatment, hair growth is reduced by around 80%.

For the budget, allow an average of 100 to 200 euros for a bikini line and underarm session (depending on the type of bikini line). Find out more about our prices.

PULSED LIGHT

Similar tolaser hair removal, the procedure and contraindications are identical. However, pulsed light (or “flash lamp”) is less powerful than a hair-removal laser. As a result, the hair bulb is not destroyed, but weakened. What’s more, only light phototypes with dark hair are candidates for this technique, as the wavelength is fixed. There are many cases of burns on mature and intermediate skins. On average, around ten sessions are recommended. At the end of the treatment, a lightening and reduction in hair growth is generally observed.

Expect to pay between 100 and 150 euros for a bikini and underarm session.

ELECTROLYSE

Thispermanent hair removal technique involves inserting a needle into the orifice of the hair shaft to transmit an electric current that destroys the bulb. The main advantage of electrolysis hair removal is that there are few contraindications. It can be performed on all phototypes, despite even recent exposure to the sun. However, this “hair by hair” method ofpermanent hair removal is long and tedious. It is recommended in hormonal areas, where there is a risk of stimulation, or at the end of laser treatment to fine-tune the result. The number of sessions is difficult to determine, as sessions are more time-based than zone-based.

Rates per quarter-hour start at 50 euros, and are degressive according to total treatment time.

PERMANENT HAIR REMOVAL AT HOME

Numerous devices have appeared on the market in recent years. Using a technique similar to the flash lamp, but with lower power, or the electric wave, the results of these methods are variable and not very effective over the long term. What’s more, great care must be taken when using them, as burns are common. The expertise of ahair removal professional is essential, as only he or she can eliminate the risks of burns and paradoxical re-growth if the device is not used on the right areas.

A device costs between €300 and €700.

Whichever technique you choose, you must be careful to respect the contraindications for each of these methods. Need an opinion? We can advise you free of charge on 01.40.06.02.02.
