Acne scars

Acne scars are often the unwelcome memory of a battle waged against skin imperfections. At Epilium & Skin in Paris, we understand the impact these brands can have on self-confidence. That’s why our expert team is committed to offering you effective solutions for smooth, radiant skin.

Why does acne leave scars?

When acne is severe, it can deform the skin to the point of creating reliefs on the skin’s surface. Acne scars generally appear when the skin is no longer inflamed, i.e. when there is no longer any acne. They are harmless but unsightly. Their presence can sometimes have an impact on self-esteem and quality of life. Scars may be temporary (red) or permanent.

What are the different types of acne scars?

  • Hollow or atrophic scars: These scars are characterized by a loss of skin tissue, creating depressions in the skin. They are also known as “ice-pick”, “boxcar” or “rolling” scars, depending on their appearance.
  • Hypertrophic scars: These scars form when the body produces excess collagen during the healing process, causing the skin to become raised. Hypertrophic scars are often thick and may be more visible.
  • Pigmented scars: Even after acne has resolved, dark or red spots may persist on the skin. Although they are not physical hollows, they can contribute to uneven skin appearance.

What treatments does Epilium & Skin offer for acne scars?

At Epilium & Skin, we offer a complete range of treatments for acne scars, tailored to the specific needs of each individual.

Dermapen microneedling

Micro-needling is an innovative technique that stimulates collagen production by using tiny needles to create microperforations in the skin. This process promotes cell regeneration, reducing the appearance of acne scars and improving overall skin texture. Its effectiveness is multiplied if combined with a targeted serum.

Chemical peeling

Our professionals perform customized chemical peels based on your skin type and the severity of scars. This method exfoliates the skin’s outer layer, reducing skin imperfections, including acne scars, and promoting cell renewal. This treatment is particularly recommended for pigmented acne scars.

Lase®

Our cutting-edge Lase® technology, combined with tranexamic acid, is particularly effective in treating pigmentation marks left by acne. Tranexamic acid works to reduce hyperpigmentation, promoting more even skin tone.

For atrophic acne scars, Lase® in combination with Vitamin A offers remarkable results. Vitamin A, known for its regenerative properties, helps improve skin texture and minimize the appearance of scars.

Combination treatments

For optimum results, our experts can recommend combination treatments, tailored to your specific needs. The combined approach may include a combination of Dermapen, chemical peels, and Lase® with specific agents to target various aspects of acne scars.
