Acne treatment

Acne, a common skin condition, can affect all age groups and can be influenced by various factors such as hormones, stress and genetics. At Epilium & Ski, we understand that every skin is unique, which is why we take an individualized approach to treating acne, focusing on effective, long-lasting solutions.

What is acne?

Acne is a common skin condition characterized by the formation of pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, pustules and sometimes cysts on the skin. It results from a combination of factors, including the clogging of hair follicles by sebum and dead skin cells, and inflammation caused by bacteria. The areas most affected are generally the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders.

The skin has hair follicles linked to sebaceous glands. These glands produce sebum, an oily substance that lubricates the skin. Acne develops when hair follicles become clogged with excess sebum and dead skin cells. This creates an environment conducive to bacterial proliferation. When a common skin bacteria infects clogged follicles, it can cause an inflammatory reaction, leading to the formation of pimples and acne lesions.

What are the factors involved in the appearance of acne?

The appearance of acne is correlated with hormonal activity. Indeed, during puberty, it is particularly intense. The skin produces more sebum, leading to imperfections such as acne. However, other factors also need to be taken into account:

  • Heredity plays an important role.
  • Stress is a trigger.
  • Smoking slows the healing of acne lesions.
  • A diet too rich in dairy products, chocolate and sweets encourages the appearance of adult acne.
  • Exposure to the sun briefly conceals skin imperfections before causing the appearance of skin lesions.
  • Some cosmetics can aggravate acne.

What acne treatments does Epilium & Skin offer?

At Epilium & Skin we offer a complete range of acne treatments. Whether you’re looking for dermatological skin cleansing for a targeted approach, Lutronic’s Lase® or Genius Lift sessions for an overall improvement in skin texture, light therapy sessions to reduce inflammation, or chemical peels for controlled exfoliation, we offer customized solutions to meet your specific needs. Our qualified experts are here to guide you towards the treatment best suited to your skin type and dermatological concerns.

Dermatological skin cleansing

Dermatological skin cleansing is a specialized procedure designed to deeply revitalize the skin. This treatment begins with a thorough cleansing to remove make-up, impurities and excess surface sebum. Next, gentle exfoliation promotes cell renewal by removing dead cells.
A key step in the process can include the manual removal of blackheads, such as blackheads and whiteheads, to unclog pores and promote clearer skin. A mask is then applied to nourish, moisturize or treat specific problems such as acne.
This overall process helps to improve skin texture, reduce imperfections and prevent skin problems. The recommended frequency of skin cleansing may vary according to individual skin type. At Epilium & Skin, we offer a free consultation to determine the best care plan for each individual.

Lase®

Lase® uses a non-ablative fractional laser, which means it treats only a fraction of the skin at a time without damaging the surface layer. This makes it an interesting option for treating active acne without causing prolonged downtime.
The laser can penetrate the skin to target the sebaceous glands responsible for excessive sebum production, one of the factors contributing to acne. By regulating sebum production, Lase® helps reduce the inflammation associated with acne.
What’s more, Lase® stimulates collagen production, promoting healing and an overall improvement in skin texture, which is beneficial for reducing acne scars.

Led light therapy

LED light therapy is a non-invasive approach to treating acne. Blue light targets the bacteria responsible for acne, reducing inflammation and preventing new breakouts. Red light stimulates healing, promoting skin regeneration and reducing scarring. What’s more, yellow light’s regulation of sebum production helps prevent conditions conducive to
acne. Soothing and without serious side effects, LED light therapy offers an effective solution for improving skin health.

Peeling

Chemical peels are an effective option for treating acne, acting on several levels. By removing dead skin cells, they unclog pores and regulate sebum production, helping to prevent new breakouts. In addition, peels stimulate collagen production, promoting healing and reducing acne scars.
